Financial Administration of the Czech Republic has sold seized goods
Auctioned goods were seized during controlling actions aimed at non-taxed import from the third countries that proceeded in May and June this year.
Nearly 60 thousand pairs of shoes were sold in public auctions held by employees of the Financial Administration of the Czech Republic on June 19th, 2014. Yield will be used to compensate the tax arrears. Auctioned goods were seized during controlling actions aimed at non-taxed import from the third countries that proceeded in May and June this year.
Employees of the Financial Administration of the Czech Republic chose the tax debtors who did not submitted VAT return although they had imported goods mostly from Southeast Asia in large amounts. In total, 170 thousand pairs of shoes, 683 luggage sets, 20 tons of cotton yarn and 24 tons of polyethylene bags were seized from the beginning of the year 2014. Under the threat of seizures, some other tax debtors have paid their multi-million debts immediately.
The auction of seized movable or immovable property is always the last phase of control-seizure actions which are an important tool in the fight against tax evasions. “Fight against tax evasions at an early stage is our priority. Significant restriction of non-taxed textile import is one of many successes in that fight”, said Mr. Jiří Žežulka, the Deputy Director General of the General Financial Directorate.
